Format Magic ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This section outlines how we handle the content you provide for formatting ("User Content"). Our primary goal is to provide our service while respecting your privacy and giving you control over your data.
We process your User Content differently depending on whether you choose to save your document to your account.
This information is stored securely and remains in your account so you can access it later. You are in full control of this data. You can permanently delete any saved document, along with all its associated content and files, at any time by using the "Delete" button in your "Your Saved Documents" dashboard. Upon deletion, the data is permanently removed from our systems.
If you use the "Share" feature for a saved document, we generate a unique, publicly accessible link to the most recently generated PDF version of that document. Please be aware that anyone with this link will be able to view the document. The content of the shared document is only updated when you explicitly choose to "Update the shared document with this version" while generating a new PDF. Deleting the parent document from your account will permanently disable its shared link.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties. This does not include trusted third parties, such as payment providers, who assist us in operating our Service, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.
Campaign measurement. When you sign up or purchase a subscription, we may share limited information with our advertising partners (Meta and Reddit) so we can measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. This includes your email address and account ID (both hashed so they cannot be read directly), your IP address, browser information, and for purchases the order value. We only do this where you have consented to marketing cookies, or where consent is not required in your region and you have not opted out. We never share the content of your documents with these partners. You can withdraw from this at any time using the cookie preferences button in our Cookie Policy below.
Format Magic can be used from third-party AI assistants (such as Anthropic's Claude or OpenAI's ChatGPT) through our connector. When you connect your Format Magic account to an assistant:
